Oxford Crime Report: Monday, August 10
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four alarms, three suspicious activities, two disturbances, two lost properties, two noise violations, two 911 hang up calls, a fire department assist, an improper parking, a civil matter, a grand larceny, a harassment, a littering, and a careless driving.
Oxford police investigated two wrecks, issued 17 traffic citations and made four arrests on the following charges:
- Careless driving with DUI
- Speeding with possession of drug paraphernalia
- Speeding, no tag and DUI
- Minor in possession of alcohol and possession of fake ID
University police responded to the following incidents: five vehicle stops, a DUI on campus grounds, a disturbance at Campus Walk, an accidental hit and run at Turner Center and a speeding with a suspended driver’s license and no car insurance on campus grounds.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a smoke detector activated at 9:51 a.m. by workers sanding walls at Chi Omega house, and a kitchen fire at 9:33 p.m. caused by cooking in the oven which caused the stove then cabinets and ceiling to catch fire at Laurel Grove 108.
