Oxford Crime Report: Wednesday, August 5
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: seven suspicious activities, four alarms, two lost properties, two careless drivers, two welfare concerns, two embezzlements, an ambulance assist, a noise violation, a motorist assist, an animal complaint, a petit larceny, an improper parking, a malicious mischief, a civil matter, a scam, an identity theft, a code violation and an auto-burglary at McElroy Drive.
Oxford police investigated four wrecks, issued 30 traffic citations and made four arrests on the following charges:
- Public intoxication
- Warrant served
- Careless driving with no tag but with possession of drug paraphernalia and schedule II narcotics
- Careless driving with no driver’s license nor car insurance
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents: two traffic details, a vehicle stop on Fraternity Row, a simple assault at Village Building 110, a service call for an ambulance at Crosby Hall, a vehicle accident at Trent Lott Leadership Institute, and a vehicle accident at Deaton Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a smoke detector malfunction at 2:09 a.m. at Croft Institute building, a hit gas line at 11:16 a.m. by plumbers digging with excavator so the fire department stood by for Center Point Energy repairs at Mogridge Lane, a cancelled call at 3:33 p.m. 407 Turnberry Circle, a smoke detector malfunction at 5:44 p.m.at Alpha Delta Pi house, a smoke detector malfunction at at 6:19 p.m. 800 Park Apartments, and an elevator motor overheated and filled the elevator with smoke 8:32 p.m. at J.D. Williams Library.
