The Princeton Review released its annual university rankings and included the University of Mississippi in five categories in this year’s edition.

The Princeton Review listed the University of Mississippi among the Best Southeastern Colleges out of 260 places and in Best 380 Colleges.

The University of Mississippi placed 12th in the Party School list, up four spots from last year.

It also came in 10th on Greek Life, barely a surprise considering 34 national fraternities and sororities are divided into three councils: National Pan-Hellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council. According to University of Mississippi Admissions office, 41 percent of students participate in Greek life. The university has moved up eight spots from last year in this ranking.

The university also placed sixth in Great Town-Gown Relations. Town and Gown describe two distinct communities within university towns: the non-academically involved residents and the student population.

The following rankings are more concerning. The University of Mississippi moved up one spot to 19th on unfriendliness to gays, lesbians and bisexual and all involved in LGBTQ along with University of Arkansas, Auburn University and Texas A&M University. Among the SEC colleges included the University of Tennesse placed highest on the list at fifth.

The University of Mississippi also placed fourth on students spending least amount of time studying. The silver lining of this ranking is that the university has gone down couple spots from being second on that list last year.

The Princeton rankings are survey-based.
