One Oxford Entrepreneur – Trying to Make a Difference for Local United States Veterans
Oxford native and entrepreneur Reggie Clayton has an underlying goal and mission with his business Titanium Services. Not only is he determined to offer the best in security, jobsite cleaning and temp service staffing; he’s doing it with as many local United States veterans as he possibly can.
“Titanium Services is the mother company,” Clayton said. “We have Titanium Security, Titanium Cleaning and also Titanium Staffing, which provides temp labor to jobsites. Our cleaning services are offered to provide a safe and clean work environment to all jobsites, either in progress or completed, and our security services uses some of the best and most experienced people around: our military veterans. I try to list as many veterans as possible on my roster of employees, so I can offer potential employers the best around when it comes to dependable, reliable and responsible people.”
Clayton has always had a special place in his heart for veterans and feels that it’s the least that he can do for the men and women who have fought for our country and then come home to a job market that many times isn’t as promising for them as it should be.
“Most of the men in my family are United States veterans,” he said, “from my grandfather to my uncles. So, if I can help veterans in some small way, I try to do that. It’s important to me.”
As far as his business, Clayton said he believes in each facet of Titanium Services and tries to make each area as successful and proficient for potential clients as he can.
“I believe a clean jobsite is a safe jobsite,” he said. “My people are out there onsite keeping the area clean while companies are working on completing their projects. And at the end of a project, we also do final cleanups as well.”
Clayton’s Titanium Services has been in the cleaning segment of the business for over a year now and security for over three years, but personally Clayton has been in the security field for over 15 years.
“I used to do it on the Square myself for different restaurants and bars, such as Roosters. And I also worked at NMRC (North Mississippi Regional Center) for many years. And my own company, Titanium Services, was the security for Oxford High School when it was being built,” he said. “We were there during the entire construction.”
Clayton also volunteers his time to the community by being the head football coach for seven and eight-year-olds playing with the Oxford Buccaneers and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and BNI Oxford (Business Network International). He’s a member of East St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church. He also went through the Oxford Police Department’s Citizen’s Academy Program where he obtained a certification of completion of the curriculum.
With his temp service, Clayton said that he’s noticed a lot of people were coming to Oxford to work from other temp services, when Oxford locals could use the jobs themselves.
“I’d go to these job sites and meet people from out of town who were working there, when we have our own people in Oxford who want to work,” he said. “So, I decided Oxford needed its own temp service. And that’s what I’m trying to do with this faction of my business, help locals get the jobs many out-of-towners are obtaining. Right now, I have many of my people hired out to numerous construction companies and it’s more economical for those companies to get people from me than bringing in people with them, due to having to provide travel expenses, hotel expenses and other essentials. They can bid less on a job if the city they’re in can provide temp labor for them once they get here.”
Clayton and his wife Julie have three children, one daughter and two sons.
