Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, July 24-26
On Friday July 23, Oxford Police Officers arrested Carrie Cowart 25, of Oxford on charges of embezzlement. This was a result of the business owner at Chaney’s Pharmacy signing charges on her. Bond was set at $25,000.00.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: two shop liftings, three petit larcenies, nine noise violations, eight careless drivers, three 911 hang ups, three burglaries –Oxford Wheelestates, Breckenridge and Dealz Auto,, grand larceny, nine suspicious activities, identity theft, animal complaint, trespassing, 15 alarms, three motorist assists, four disturbances, three welfare concerns, three lost properties, five improper parkings, Fire Department. assist, two, simple assaults, malicious mischief, code violation and scam.
Oxford police investigated 13 wrecks, issued 50 traffic citations and made 14 arrests on the following charges:
- Careless driving and no driver’s license
- Suspended driver’s license
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- No driver’s license and no insurance
- Careless driving, littering, suspended driver’s license and DUI
- Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and no insurance
- No seatbelt, suspended driver’s license, no insurance and warrant served
- Speeding, no driver’s license, no insurance and DUI
- No seatbelt, expired tag and DUI
- DUI
- Failure to yield, no insurance and DUI
- Public intoxication
- Possession of schedule 2 narcotics and failure to comply
- Speeding, no driver’s license and no insurance
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: Oxford Health & Rehab – general fire alarm malfunction; Student Union – second floor smoke detector malfunction; The Village Building 110 Apt. 7 – cooking activated the smoke detector; 406 Tyler Ave. – smoke detector malfunction; 1412 Jackson Ave. East – smoke detector malfunction;
Pike house – paint fumes activated a second floor smoke detector; Larson’s Cash Saver – gas leaking from a car in the parking lot – washed the area off; Anchorage Road – report of a dumpster fire – control burn in a construction area not in the dumpster; Kroger Gas Station – someone spilled gas.
