Oxford Crime Report: Monday, July 20
Joseph Oaks – Felony DUI
On Saturday, July 18, 2015, Oxford police officers arrested Joseph Oaks, 35 of Pontotoc. This was a result of a traffic stop made on the subject for Careless Driving. It was Oaks’ third DUI within five years, qualifying it as a felony. Bond was set at $2,500.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: nine suspicious activities, four alarms, three disturbances, two harassments, two careless driving, welfare concerns, a malicious mischief, an ambulance assist, a 911 hang up call, and a trespassing.
Oxford police investigated four wrecks, issued 24 traffic citations and made arrests on the following charges:
- Cutting corner, suspended driver’s license, no car insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
- Running a red light, suspended driver’s license, no car insurance and DUI
- Child restraint, no insurance and a suspended driver’s license
University police responded to the following incidents: seven vehicle stops, a harassment at J.D. Williams Library and a service call for an ambulance at V. B. Harrison Health Center.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following call: a wreck with entrapment at 12:50 a.m. with a patient extricated on CR 101.
