Oxford Crime Report: Wednesday, July 8
On Wednesday July 8, 2015, investigators with the Oxford police department arrested James Flemons, 51 from Thaxton, for Credit Card Fraud after he used a card found in his employer’s vehicle. Flemon’s bond was set at $2,500.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: two disturbances, two welfare concerns, two trespassing, two simple assaults, two malicious mischief, two animal complaints, two fire department assists, two suspicious activities, two suspicious persons, an ambulance assist, a suspicious vehicle, an alarm, an open door, a petit larceny, and an auto burglary at 2200 University Avenue.
Oxford police investigated four wrecks, issued 19 tickets and made eight arrests on the following charges: (2) possession of drug paraphernalia, (2) possession of drug paraphernalia with a warrant served, a public drunk with possession of controlled substance, a public drunk, a credit card fraud, and a seatbelt violation with a suspended driver’s license, false ID information, possession of weapon by felon with a warrant served.
University police responded to the following incidents: two vehicle stops, a larceny of bicycles at Coulter Hall, a larceny of bicycles at Residential College South, and an auto burglary per taking items from vehicle at Magnolia Drive.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: an upstairs bedroom smoke detector activated at 12:21 p.m. at by the hot air from the attic at 321 Country Club Road, a fire alarm pulled 2:43 p.m. by a child at Oxford Electric Department, a cancelled call at 3:53 p.m. at J.D. Williams Library, a smoke detector activated 6:11 p.m. by cooking at 400 Hathorn Road, a report of a smoke smell at 11:26 p.m. at Pine Grove apartment 45 on 2400 Anderson Road.
