Campos To Compete At Canadian Fastpitch International Championship
While the Women’s World Cup finals will be kicking off this weekend in Canada, it isn’t the only international competition taking place north of the border this weekend.
The Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship begins on Friday and the Rebels will have a future player competing in the event as signee Raven Campos will take the field with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Star team.
The annual event will run from July 4 through July 11. Campos and the NJCAA All-Star team will play a pair of exhibition games on July 3 against the Canadian National Youth Team.
Campos, a shortstop at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, was selected to compete with the team after helping the Norse to a 50-16 record this past season and a runner-up finish in the national championship tournament. Campos earned All-America honors for the second time at Northeastern Oklahoma after also gaining that distinction in her freshman campaign.
As a freshman, Campos hit .451 with 15 home runs, 12 doubles and 58 RBI on the way to a 43-17 record for the Norse. She followed that up by hitting .383 with 14 doubles, two triples and three home runs in her sophomore campaign.
