Oxford Crime Report: Wednesday, June 24
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five disturbances, three alarms, two trespassing, two fire department assists, two suspicious persons, a suspicious activity, an open door, a property damage, a welfare concern, a civil matter and a shoplifting.
Oxford police investigated two wrecks, issued 29 tickets and made four arrests on the following charges: a simple assault, a contempt of a court warrant served, a public drunk with possession of controlled substance, and a leaving the scene of accident with a suspended driver’s license and also a DUI to first degree.
University police responded to the following incidents: a vehicle stop at University Place, a service call an ambulance at the Pavilion, and a vehicle accident on University Avenue.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents: a smoke detector malfunction at 12:32 a.m. and 1:16 a.m. at Thad Cochran building, a hallway smoke detector malfunction at 5:41 a.m. at 6 Highland Place, a kitchen heat duct detector alert at 9:15 a.m. at McDonald’s on University Avenue, a smoke detector activated at 1:53 p.m. by sanding sheetrock at 109 Glen Eagle Road, and a smoke detector activation at 2:02 p.m. and 3:26 p.m. at Hydrology Lab Boat Shed.
