Palmer Home for Children Announces 3rd Annual Radiothon on SuperTalk Mississippi
Palmer Home for Children is excited to announce its third annual Radiothon on SuperTalk Mississippi Network on June 25, 2015.
In honor of Palmer Home’s 120-year anniversary, the goal for the 2015 Radiothon is to raise $120,000.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, listeners can tune into SuperTalk Mississippi Network and hear directly from children, alumni, staff and supporters of Palmer Home. Radio guests will share the organization’s history, mission and personal testimonies on how the ministry has impacted their lives.
Special guests will include country recording artist and author Jimmy Wayne, a chancery court judge, alumni and former Miss Mississippi Christine Spain (formerly Christine McClamrock), and more.
Josh Whelan, vice president of development for Palmer Home, said, “We are looking forward to working with SuperTalk Mississippi again this summer. Because we are a privately-funded organization we rely on our supporters to help us impact the lives of over 100 children in our care. Partners like SuperTalk allow us to not only create an environment of hope, but to restore the lives of children in need. We are truly grateful for SuperTalk and their commitment to our mission.”
The 12-hour Radiothon will broadcast live from Palmer Home for Children’s Columbus, Mississippi campus. All three major talk shows, The Gallo Radio Show, The JT Show, and Head to Head will showcase the positive impact Palmer Home has had on the children in their care. Listeners are encouraged to keep up with the conversation throughout the day by listening to one of the 11 SuperTalk Mississippi Network stations, listening online at www.supertalk.fm, and by following @PalmerHomeMS and @SuperTalk on Twitter for highlights from the day.
Drake Bassett, president and CEO of Palmer Home, said, “Regardless of their circumstance or family situation, every child needs someone to love them and be in their corner. Palmer Home provides educational and emotional support, great experiences with great people, a stable home environment, and the presence of a faith-based community. Everyone here is invested in the success of these children.”
Listeners are encouraged to call in and support Palmer Home during the Radiothon with donations and financial pledges. The money raised will directly impact the children in Palmer Home’s ministries.
“Our ability to rescue and restore children will grow in two ways – through more caregivers and through financial resources,” said Bassett. “Every gift increases our reach and allows us to say yes to more children.”
There are two matching gifts committed for Radiothon this year. Cadence Bank and an anonymous donor will both give $15,000 each to help reach this year’s $120,000 goal. But Palmer Home will need support to reach the $15,000 and $30,000 benchmarks to ensure the matches are met.
Steve Davenport, CEO of SuperTalk Mississippi, said, “It is a tremendous honor to be able to use the statewide reach of SuperTalk Mississippi to raise funds and awareness for Palmer Home. Palmer Home has had their doors open for 120 years, we need your help to continue their efforts in housing and raising children in need in Mississippi.”
Listeners can make donations and pledges during the Radiothon by calling 662-245-4642, visiting www.palmerhome.org, or by texting “donate” to 41444 with the keyword PALMER.
