Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, June 16
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five alarms, three disturbances, three suspicious persons, two fire department assists, two welfare concerns, two simple assaults, a suspicious activity, an ambulance assist, a malicious mischief, a trespassing, a petit larceny, an animal complaint, a counterfeit currency, and an improper parking.
Oxford police investigated four wrecks, issued five tickets and made one arrest for careless driving with DUI to the first degree.
University police responded to the following incidents: a vehicle stop at University Place, a petit larceny on Fraternity Row, a service call for an ambulance at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, an accidental hit and run at George Hall, and a public drunk with a fake ID at the Chancellor’s House.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a smoke detector activated at 1:25 p.m. due to cooking at The Village Building 134, a dumpster fire at 6:16 p.m. at Rosemont Loop area, a water flow alarm malfunction at 9:51 p.m. at Chi Omega house, an unfounded report of gas smell at 11:17 p.m. at Old Venice Pizza, and a dumpster fire re-ignited at 11:28 p.m. at Rosemont Loop area.
