University of Mississippi Sends Baseball Jersey in Memory of Little Rebel
The University of Mississippi is sending an Ole Miss baseball jersey to the family of the late 10-year-old baseball player, Lane Rodgers.
His grandfather, Terry Rodgers, told FOX13 that the jersey will have his number, 33, on it because “that was part of Lane’s dream.”
“I think that is tremendous because that was his deal. He wanted to grow up and go to college at Ole Miss and play baseball and go further,” said Terry to FOX13.
Ole Miss baseball players tweeted in his memory.
My thoughts/prayers to Lane Rodgers and his family. He was great OM fan and would’ve been a great OM player! Rebel family loves y’all. #33

The late baseball player is from Byhalia and was a member of Mid-South Storm, a little league team in North Mississippi. He passed away after being hit by a tree branch during an evacuation of the baseball field during a storm in Tupelo on June 14. Lane was laid to rest Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Byhalia. His parents have set up a memorial fund online, where they already raised twice their goal of $5,000. Another memorial fund has been set up at the Citizens Bank in Byhalia also.
Those who wish to send flowers and sympathies may do so to the Rodgers family at 2042 Highway 309 North, Byhalia, MS 38611 or to the Byhalia United Methodist Church at 2511 Church Street, Byhalia, MS 38611.
