Ole Miss Sports Productions Wins Two More Emmys
While the athletics calendar year is nearing an end, the victories continue to come in, as the Ole Miss Sports Productions team won two Emmy awards on June 6 in Atlanta at the Southeast Regional Emmy Awards.
Ole Miss Sports Productions picked up Emmys in the Daily or Weekly Program (sports) category for The Season: Ole Miss Football, and the Photographer – Program (Non-News)/Short-Form category for this Program Photographer Short-Form Composite. The pair of awards gives Ole Miss Sports Productions five Emmys over the past two years.
“This is definitely a testimony to the hard work our student-athletes, coaches and administration put in,” said Micah Ginn, associate athletics director for sports productions and creative services. “We are documenting an incredible time here at Ole Miss, and we are honored to have that opportunity.”
Chris Sabo, producer/director of The Season, noted that teamwork led to the accolades.
“It is an extreme honor to be recognized with the top media professionals our region,” Sabo said. “It is a culmination of months of preparation, persistence and good old-fashioned hard work. The Season: Ole Miss Football is a department-wide undertaking; everyone has their hands in it in some way. I am extremely proud of the way that we are able to consistently come together to create high-quality content as a team. ”
Lassiter, another producer/director for Ole Miss Sports Productions, also thanked the Ole Miss family for the continued support.
“It’s a great honor to be named among the industry’s top professionals, but it doesn’t happen without the student-athletes, fans and administration at Ole Miss,” Lassiter mentioned. “We are fortunate to work alongside talented and driven professionals every day, whose efforts are reflected in these awards.”
Trapp, who served as a graduate assistant for Ole Miss Sports Productions, enjoyed his time working in the department.
“It seems every day there is more and more proof of the special things happening at Ole Miss,” remarked Trapp. “The fan, athletic and leadership support of Ole Miss Sports Production is like no other in the country. It feels great to share this award with them and to bring more trophies back to Oxford. Back-to-back years are just proof of the process.”
With the awards piling up, Ole Miss Sports Productions is focused on continuing to put out the highest quality of creative content.
“We have a close knit group of talented professionals that are committed to telling our program’s story in creative, clear and comprehensive manner,” Sabo said. “We are ecstatic to be named the Southeast region’s top weekly production for the second straight year, but it will not change our focus. We will remain humble, remain driven and continue to push ourselves as professionals in order to provide Rebel Nation with a product that they can be proud of on a weekly basis.”
The Ole Miss Sports Productions team consists of Ginn, Sabo, Lassiter, as well as Shane Sanford, Seth Tanner, Stewart Pirani, and Mo Smith.
“These wins are a total team effort,” Ginn added. “It takes everyone pulling the rope in the same direction, and I’m proud to say that’s what our team does.”
