“I am extremely happy to be adding a player of Alissa’s caliber to our program,” said head coach Matt Insell. Alissa is someone that we have been recruiting since we arrived on campus and we are extremely happy that she has decided to join Rebel Nation. She is an explosive guard with great court vision and the ability to score the basketball in many different ways, which really excites me as a coach.”

Alston started her prep career at Career Hill Magnet School in New Haven, Connecticut. A member of the varsity squad, Alston averaged 13.3 points per game, 4.7 assists per game and 3.0 steals per game. She was a New Haven Register first team all-state selection in 2013 as well as an all-area selection. She led her team to the Southern Connecticut Conference division titles.

“I feel we have one of the most explosive backcourts in the country,” said Insell. “Alissa is another major addition to our already talented backcourt. I couldn’t be happier with our 2015 recruiting class and I look forward to the impact they will make on our program over the next four years. Our future is bright and we’re glad to welcome this group to the Ole Miss family.”

Alston spent her final two seasons playing at the Upper Room Christian Academy in Long Island, New York. She was a Northeast Super Region selection and was the Upper Room women’s basketball Player of the Year. She led her squad to the USA Prep National Championship and a 26-3 record as a sophomore.

Alston joins Madinah Muhammad (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), Victoria “Torri” Lewis (Olive Branch, Miss./Home School), Jonell Williams (Palatka, Fla./Palatka), Cecilia Muhate Peña (Madrid, Spain) and Sue Key (Dubach, La./Chipola JC) as players who will join the team in 2015-16.
