Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Finishes Year in Top 25
For the fourth time in seven years, head coach Mark Beyers guided the Ole Miss women’s tennis team to a top 25 finish, as the Rebels earned a final Oracle/ITA Team Ranking of No. 24, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Tuesday.
Vanderbilt, which won the national championship last week in Waco, finished No. 1, followed by Southern California, UCLA, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, California, Baylor, Virginia and Texas A&M rounding out the top 10.
The Rebels are among a nation-leading eight SEC teams to finish ranked in the top 25.
It marks the 14th time overall for Ole Miss to finish the season in the top 25. The Rebels finished the year with a 16-11 overall record, earned their seventh consecutive NCAA appearance and advanced to the second round. Off the court, the Rebels posted their seventh straight semester with above a 3.3 grade point average and had eight of nine players make the honor roll.
The final national singles and doubles rankings, as well as the final regional rankings will be announced June 3. In the most recent singles rankings before the NCAA Championships, Julia Jones was ranked No. 10 and Arianne Hartono was ranked No. 82.
With the men earning a final ranking of No. 17, Ole Miss is one of 15 schools to have both its men’s and women’s teams in the final top 25.
