Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Team Ends Year No. 17
In his first year as head coach, Toby Hansson led the Ole Miss men’s tennis team to a final national ranking of No. 17, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the final Oracle/ITA Team Rankings Tuesday.
Virginia, which won the national championship last week in Waco, finished first followed by Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, Texas A&M, Illinois, USC, Georgia, Texas and Duke to round out the top 10.
This marks the 22nd time for the Rebels to end the year in the top 20 and the third time in the last four years. The Rebels finished as the third highest ranked team in the SEC behind SEC co-champions, Texas A&M (5) and Georgia (8).
Ole Miss finished with an 18-9 overall record, 8-4 in the SEC, and earned their 22nd consecutive NCAA bid. The Rebels hosted the NCAA first and second rounds for the 12th time. Off the court, the Rebels posted the highest men’s team GPA in recorded history at Ole Miss, with a 3.50.
The final national singles and doubles rankings, as well as the final regional rankings will be announced June 3. In the most recent singles rankings before the NCAA Championships, Nik Scholtz was ranked No. 18 and Stefan Lindmark was ranked No. 86. In doubles, Scholtz and Zvonimir Babic were No. 27.
