Wedding Season: Gift Registry Alternatives for Those Who Have Enough
The wedding season is in full swing, and stores’ wedding registries are full to brim with homemaking must-haves.
I’m less than a month away from my wedding that lasted a year in planning. Out of all stresses of the wedding, the most unexpected stress I have had yet was the gift registry. So many things, so little time! For those who feel they have enough but their loved ones insist on gifting here are great alternatives.
Donate to Charity
Bridal couples who have plenty can share their additional blessings in charitable ways. In my invitations’ inserts among the list of bridal registries, I included an option for donating money or food to the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. The guests can opt between buying us a present or bringing a bag of food or blankets to our wedding that we can drop off at OLHS after our wedding.
For example, JustGive.org have a wedding gift registry where the guests can easily donate either money and, in some registries, may even choose which charity to donate to.
Honeymoon Registration
This is a fun alternative for the engaged couples who already have a home together! The Honeymoon.com help couples offset costs of their paradise getaway as well as offering destination ideas.
The Honey Fund is another such website. It also offers interesting alternatives such as the down payment fund for the couples’ first homes and a home improvement fund to help the new couple if they have a fixer-upper house.
Gift Card Registry
When in doubt on picking presents out just give money, right? The Gift Card Registry is a classier alternative to cash gifts. The website has over 250 stores including general stores like Target and Home Depot.
May your homes be full of love!
