Highway 7 Overlay Project in Oxford Set to Begin Tonight

Published

on

The Mississippi Department of Transportation will begin an overlay project on Highway 7 through the City of Oxford tonight, May 26 at 6 p.m.

MDOT crews will begin the milling and overlay project at the Sisk Avenue exit and proceed to the other ramps in a counterclockwise fashion. Once this interchange is complete, the operation will move to the University Avenue interchange, then to the Highway 6/ Highway 7 interchange and finally to the mainline of Highway 7. Each ramp will be closed for several hours at a time while the work is being performed and will remain closed until it is safe for traffic flow.

MDOT will have advanced warning signs in place throughout the area to inform the traveling public of the ramp and mainline closures. Motorists should use extreme caution when traveling through this area and to use an alternate route, if possible.

This project will be performed at night beginning tonight at 6 p.m. The project is expected to be completed by Thursday, June 4.
