Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, May 15 – 17
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: nine disturbances, eight suspicious activities, eight alarms, five fire department assists, four welfare concerns, four credit card frauds, three malicious mischief, three lost properties, two improper parking, two animal complaints, an ambulance assist, a shoplifting, an 911 hang up call, a business burglary at My Extra Closet, and auto-burglaries at Country Road 1081, Highway 278 West, Birkdale Court, Glen Eagle, Muirfield Cove and Turnberry Circle.
Oxford police investigated five wrecks, issued 47 traffic citations and made six arrests on the following charges: (3) public intoxication, a minor in possession of alcohol, a suspended driver’s license with no car tag nor car insurance, and a possession of drug paraphernalia.
University police responded to the following incidents: eight vehicle stops, a report of a suspicious person at J.D. Williams Library, a vehicle accident at Old Athletics, a vehicle accident on All American Drive, a retrieving of stolen property at Magnolia Drive, a trespassing at J.D. Williams Library, a traffic detail at University Place, and a public drunk with false identity card at Kincannon Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a cancelled call at 11:53 a.m. at Memory House on May 15, a power line arc caused by a limb at 11:55 a.m. on Mimosa Drive on May 15, a smoke detector malfunction at 1:20 a.m. and 2:58 a.m. at the Ole Miss Golf Course hitting bay on May 16, a cooking fire at 7:05 p.m. at 1510 Garfield Avenue on May 16, a smoke detector activated by cooking at 7:46 p.m. at 608 South 11th Street on May 16, prank pulls of the fire alarms on second and third floors resulting in a broken pull station on second floor at 3:33 a.m. at University Trails building 13 on May 17, a smoke detector malfunction at 1:19 p.m. at Ole Miss Golf Course hitting bay on May 17, an A/C motor burning at 3:54 p.m. at Burger King on May 17, a smoke detector activated by cooking at 4:15 p.m. at Hermitage Gardens on May 17, a smoke detector malfunction at 5:26 p.m. at Ole Miss Golf Course hitting bay on May 17, and a report of smoke in air at 2:20 a.m. but fire department found it to be steam off a metal building at Garden Terrace area this morning (May 18).
