Malco Theatres Open New Bowling Alley Friday, May 15
At long last Malco Theatres’ Premier Lanes Oxford opens tomorrow afternoon.
Oxford has been without a bowling alley since The Lanes (Kiame’s) bowling alley burned down around five years ago this coming September. Rick Bourgeois, senior vice president of Malco bowling operations, said the lanes would open within second week of April depending on the construction schedule. Apparently the date was pushed back but at long last tomorrow afternoon Oxonians will go bowling again.
The Premier Lanes Oxford is on Sisk Avenue, attached to the Malco Oxford Commons theater. The 36,000-foot bowling alley will have 20 lanes divided into 14 regular lanes and six boutique lanes in a VIP area that can be reserved for parties. Action Alley Arcade will be there along with a laser maze, league play and a pro shop and also a full-service cafe with bar.
Bourgeois previously described the new arcade as a “sophisticated Chucky E. Cheese’s” where guests can electronically transfer money to play. The money will be put into a card where it can be used anywhere within the bowling alley. The card also registers the amount of tickets won so at the end of the visit the card can be exchanged for prizes per ticket redemption.
Premiere Lanes Oxford is also now accepting reservations at www.premierlanes.com for birthday parties and corporate events.
Karen Scott, marketing director for Malco Theater, said “Details on the June grand opening/ribbon-cutting, along with an official press release, will be shared soon.”
