Kate Freeman Clark Art Auction, Gala Big Holly Springs Hit
The highlight of the Holly Spring social calendar, the Kate Freeman Clark art auction and gala, was another success Saturday night.
“Community support is vital to our operation,” chairman John Loftin Jr. said. “Proceeds from tonight’s event will be used in our efforts to ensure that the work and collections of Miss Clark are both stored and displayed appropriately.”
Two of Clark’s paintings, “Old Mill Pond” and “Spring Running Between Hills,” were sold during a live auction along with four other items. Many other books, vacation packages and fine jewelry were available during the silent auction, and a raffle was held for a reproduction of “Sweet Pea,” also by Clark. One of three reproductions, the painting depicts a view of a porch seen through lattice with pea vines intertwined. A woman is sitting on the porch and a figure looks out of a window.
The dinner, catered by Woodson Ridge Farms of Oxford, focused on a farm-to-table meal with fresh meats and vegetables. The music was provided by The Plaintiffs, a band out of Memphis.
