Jessica Peralta, a first-year math teacher at Oxford High School, is the Oxford School District 2015 First Year Teacher of the Year.
Before she even started her first year of teaching, Peralta received a Knowles Science Teaching Foundation Fellowship worth $175,000. The program offered financial support to assist her with a variety of grants for classroom materials, professional development and more.
Peralta first came to the Oxford School District as a student teacher in the fall of 2012 and is a distinguished graduate from The University of Mississippi. To be named the Oxford School District First Teacher of the Year, a teacher must be in their first year of teaching within an Oxford school.
