Food Network Chef Simon Majumdar Takes over Oxford Wednesday

Oxford is in for an amazing treat, Food Network judge and author Simon Majumdar is traveling across America on his “Fed, White, and Blue” book tour and his first stop in Mississippi is Oxford.

This Wednesday night from 4 to 6 p.m., come out and hear terrific stories and sample delicious food at Oxford Floral, located on the Square. Majumdar will be putting on a cooking demonstration and food tasting. Immediately following he will have his book available to sell as well as sign.

“This event is open to the public and the demonstration and tasting is complimentary,” Ashley Wilkinson from Oxford Floral said.

The food that Majumdar will be cooking includes, Chicken Tandoori, Catfish Pakora and Sticky Spicy Peanuts. Also being served is Majumdar’s favorite bourbon, Angel’s Envy, which is a new craft bourbon to the state of Mississippi.

Majumdar’s book contains stories and recipes of his travels around America in search for citizenship with fork and knife in hand.

“Eat Y’all reached out to us (to host this event),” Wilkinson said. “We are also partnering with Square Books.”

This is not Majumdar’s first visit to the Magnolia State. During his National tasting tour about two years ago, Majumdar visited the Mississippi Delta, Jackson metro and Gulf Coast regions. His accounts of those visits are outlined in his book.

“We just hope people will come out and support this event,” Wilkinson said.

Oxonians will not want to miss this opportunity to eat great food and talk with Majumdar about his journey. He will also be sharing cooking tips and his love of barbeque.

The event is co-hosted by Eat Y’all, Square Books and Oxford Floral, and is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to join. $35 per person plus tax includes tasting event and a signed, personalized copy of Simon’s latest book. For more information about this event visit the website.
