Oxford Police Release Documents on Local Bars Violating Alcohol Laws
Last Friday, the Mississippi Attorney General’s office joined Oxford police department to conduct compliance checks in restaurants, bars and gas stations.
The Oxford police has released a document showing locations checked. The location listed with “Violation” besides them were issued a citation for selling alcohol to a minor. Some businesses were issued a second citation within a year. The total number of violations is 11.
Here are the businesses:
- 4 Corners Chevron, 502 South Lamar Boulevard: no listed violation
- James Food Center, 505 Jackson Avenue: no listed violation
- Lamar Express, 1448 South Lamar Boulevard: violation; second offense
- Lindsey’s Chevron, 321 North Lamar Boulevard: violation
- Oxford Food Mart, 725 Molly Barr Road: no listed violation
- Rib Cage of Oxford, 311 South Lamar Boulevard: violation
- Sky Mart, 825 College Hill Road: violation
- Spot Store, 1438 North Lamar Boulevard: violation
- Texaco Express Shop, 2018 University Avenue: no listed violation
- The Brittany Store, 1903 Jackson Avenue: violation
- The Levee of Oxford, 1008 Jackson Avenue: violation; second offense
- The Library, 120 South 11th Street: violation, second offense
- Three Way Store, 1500 Old Highway 7: violation, second offense
- Ward’s Short Stop, 2502 Old Taylor Road: violation, second offense
There is an additional list of businesses that refuses anyone under 21 inside of which only one is named: Frank and Marlee’s at 1210 Harrison Avenue.
The police say they will continue to make it a priority to curb underage drinking and hold those accountable that allow this to go on.
