Ole Miss Softball Host South Carolina in SEC Tilt
The Ole Miss Rebel softball plays host to the South Carolina Gamecocks this Double Decker weekend in Oxford.
Ole Miss enters the weekend with a 28-19 record and a 5-13 mark inside conference play. On Tuesday night, the Rebels picked up there 28th win of the season by taking the doubleheader form Alcorn State.
With two more wins on the season, Ole Miss will tie the school record of 30 wins, set back in 2005.
Senior Allison Brown was dubbed the SEC Player of Week after facing Arkansas on the road with hitting .778 in the series with four runs and 4 RBI, where the Rebels pulled out a series sweep of the Razorbacks marking the first road sweep in a three-game series for Ole Miss since the ’05 season.
South Carolina comes into Oxford with a 32-17 record and 6-12 in the SEC. Last time on the diamond, USC took care of Georgia State by a score of 8-0 in 6 innings.
The Gamecocks are led at the dish by junior left fielder Alaynie Page as she leads the team in 11 offensive categories, including batting average (.439), slugging percentage (.829), runs (48), hits (72), doubles (10), triples (6), home runs (14) and RBI (42).
Last season, the Gamecocks swept the series over Ole Miss and own a 27-16 margin in the all-time series over the Rebels.
Game times set for this series are 6 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Fans can watch Saturday and Sunday’s games on SECNetwork, while Friday’s game will be carried on WatchESPN.
