Rebel Madi Osias Named SEC Pitcher of the Week
Junior Madi Osias has been named the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week after leading the Rebels to an undefeated week, the league office announced on Monday.
The right-hander turned in a 0.82 ERA on the week, posting a 3-0 record in the circle while allowing two runs in 17.0 innings of work and held opponents to a .197 batting average against on the week.
Osias tossed her first complete-game shutout of the season in a shutout victory over Southern Miss in the first game of a doubleheader against the Golden Eagles. She then came out of the bullpen in game two with the Rebels trailing by a run and tossed five scoreless innings to allow her team the opportunity to rally and complete the doubleheader sweep.
The junior then got the start in Saturday’s contest against the Louisville Cardinal, picking up her third win of the week and 10th win of the season. Osias retired 10 consecutive batters to open the game and 12-of-13 out of the gates through the first four innings. She allowed only two runs – both coming off a home run in the fifth inning – as the Rebels picked up a 5-2 win over the Cardinal.
Osias allowed only three hits on the afternoon for Louisville, the fourth-place team in the Atlantic Coast Conference and an offense that was hitting at a .325 clip coming into the weekend.
Ole Miss will return to action on Tuesday afternoon, hosting Alcorn State in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
