Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, April 10- 12
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 15 suspicious activities, nine disturbances, nine alarms, eight welfare concerns, six ambulance assists, six noise violations, five simple assaults, five improper parking, four petit larcenies, three reported careless drivers, three 911 hang ups, three animal complaints, three lost properties, three auto-burglaries at Wal-Mart; Magnolia Grove; and Anchorage Road, two civil matters, two trespassing, two malicious mischief, two fire department assist, a grand larceny, a shoplifting, a code violation, a credit card fraud, and a motorist assist.
Oxford police investigated 17 wrecks, issued 85 traffic citations and made 30 arrests on the following charges: (7) possession of drug paraphernalia; (7) public intoxication; (3) shoplifting; (2) careless driving with DUI; (2) careless driving with possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI; a careless driving with minor in possession of alcohol and DUI; a running a stop sign with minor in possession of alcohol and DUI; a suspended driver’s license and DUI; a petit larceny; a running a red light with DUI; a domestic violence; a warrant served; no headlight nor driver’s license but with possession of drug paraphernalia; and a suspended driver’s license with no car insurance.
University police responded to the following incidents: 5 vehicle stops, two vehicle accidents in Kincannon parking lot, two traffic details, a careless driver at Kappa Alpha Order house, a moving violation per improper equipment and suspended driver’s license on Rebel Drive, a disturbance at Kappa Alpha Order house, a vandalism to vehicle at Crosby Hall, a service call for an ambulance at Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, an intoxicated person at Kincannon Hall, a suspicious vehicle at Crosby Hall, a vandalism at Deaton Hall, a public drunk at Khayat Law School, a suspicious vehicle at the new Physical Plant buildings, a vehicle accident at Lamar Hall, a disturbance at Stockard Hall, a report of a suspicious person at Kappa Sigma house, and a vandalism at Stockard Hall.
Oxford Fire Department a smoke detector activated by shower steam at Phi Mu house, a prank pull of the fire alarm at Alpha Tau Omega house, a police assist at Lafayette Place apartments, a possibly overheated abandoned car in middle of street on Jackson Avenue near the Wal-Mart, burned pizza in microwave at Crosby #628, burned popcorn in microwave at Crosby #513, a general fire alarm malfunction at Sigma Nu, and a general fire alarm malfunction at Hermitage Gardens.
