Ole Miss Supports Equal Pay Day
In honor of Equal Pay Day on April 14, the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies will host a presentation on the pay gap by attorney and advocate Noreen Farrell on April 20.
“Women receive only 77 percent of male earnings,” said Jaime Harker, Interim Director for the Isom Center and Associate Professor of English. “Equal Pay Day is meant to symbolize how far women have to work into 2015 to earn what men did in 2014. We are proud to welcome Farrell and are excited to hear her lecture on the wage gap.”
Noreen Farrell is the Executive Director of Equal Rights Advocates, a national non-profit that has advocated for women and girls at school and work for over 40 years. She chairs the national Equal Pay Today Campaign, which is tackling the gender wage gap in states across the country. Farrell has been hailed in the legal profession as a Top Legal Innovator (2014), a Top Women Leader in Law (2013), and one of California’s Leading Employment Lawyers (2012).
In the Overby Center Auditorium at 4 p.m., Farrell will present her lecture “Moving Women Forward: What Fair Play Has to Do With It.”
There will be a reception after the presentation. No ticket is required.
