Assistant Professor of Journalism Deb Wenger and Director of Mississippi Student Press Association, R.J. Morgan will be speaking on behalf of the conference’s “Tech Talk.” What does this entail?

“We’re going to be talking about emerging technologies in journalism and how they’re being used throughout the industry.” R.J. Morgan commented.

“We’re going to look at drones, Google Glass, we’re going to talk a little about apps and the effects they’re having on news gathering and dissemination of news,” Professor Wenger said, “Then we’re going to let people play around with some of the tools, let them wear Google Glass and see what it would be like to tell the story through that, we’re going to show some stories students have done with [Google] Glass, and then we’ll talk a little bit about the issues related to drones in the industry right now, but also let people fly the drone. If you have wanted to get your hands on some of this new tech, this is the conference for you.”

Both speakers are more than excited to discuss new and upcoming technology features and their implications for both marketing as well as journalism. It will give a firsthand look at technology like Google glasses, the Apple watches, and that’s right, even drone journalism.
