Oxford Flea Market Needs Volunteers for its Opening Weekend
Oxford Flea needs volunteers for its opening weekend this Saturday.
The outdoors market has numerous vendors and may expect a good bit of people to show up. The founders of the market are asking for volunteer work to help set up booths for vendors, help with parking and helping vendors from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to volunteer, and all volunteers are welcome.
Oxford Flea is a labor of love from Liz and Benjy Foster. Liz, who is the curator of EatingOxford.com, has always loved shopping in thrift stores and flea markets with her husband who has attended antique auctions since childhood. They both decided they should create a monthly flea market on every first Saturday, a pleasant addition to the Oxford Makers Market.
This weekend there will beĀ 50 vendors registered for the outdoors market in the HottyToddy.com parking lot on 307 West Jackson Avenue. With these vendors Oxford Flea boast an eclectic space where customers can grab a hot plate from Butts ‘n’ Blues BBQ or a smoked cinnamon roll from Pops’ Smokehouse BBQ truck and browse metal art, vintage treasures and baked goods. There may be handcrafted lawn chairs and wooden arts, reclaimed vintage goods from the founders themselves, and delicious smelling candles from Ethan’s Sweet Treasures Soy Candles.
The whole list is available here. Be sure to check out Oxford Flea Facebook page for photos and shopper giveaways.
The flea market is located right at the corner of W. Jackson Avenue and Molly Barr in the HottyToddy.com parking lot so there are several options for parking. There are a few limited spaces in the market lot, but the Depot Trail access to the lot means the customers can also park at the Ford Center, Oxford Middle School and the Stone Center on Washington Avenue. There will be signs on the trail so the customers won’t risk missing the outdoors market.
