Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, March 26
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: seven suspicious activities, seven alarms, three disturbances, two grand larcenies, two ambulance assists, two petit larcenies, an animal complaint, a careless driver, some harassing phone calls, and a lost property.
Oxford police investigated three wrecks, issued 51 traffic citations and made 12 arrests on the following charges: (2) no seatbelt and a minor in possession of alcohol, (2)running a red light with a minor in possession of alcohol, a careless driving with no car insurance but with a DUI, a careless driving with DUI, a possession of drug paraphernalia, a driving with no headlights and a suspended driver’s license, a minor in possession of alcohol, a shoplifting, a careless driving with possession of fake ID and a minor in possession of alcohol, and finally a careless driving with no car insurance but with possession of drug paraphernalia and a DUI.
University police responded to the following incidents: two vehicle stops, a public drunk on Magnolia Drive, a call for an ambulance for a suicidal attempt at Hefley Hall, an emergency medical service requested for an intoxicated person at Kappa Delta house, a warrant served at the Lafayette County Detention Center, and an accidental hit and run at Campus Walk.
Oxford Fire Department a smoke detector malfunction at room #104 at Jackson Avenue Center, and an alarm that went off on Sam-Gerard Hall but no cause was discovered.
