Fresh off a series win over No. 24 Mississippi State this past weekend, the Rebels return to action to close out a 10-game home stand against Mississippi Valley State in a single game at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

The Rebels will then continue play on the road at Southeastern Conference foe Arkansas with seven of the next eight games played on the road.

Ole Miss had a solid offensive weekend against the Bulldogs, scoring 28 runs in the three-game series and notching 15 two-out RBI in the series. Alex Schneider paced the offensive production for the Rebels, hitting .500 for the week with two home runs, seven runs scored, five walks and four RBI. The freshman first baseman pushed her season average to .309 and is hitting a team-leading six home runs while scoring a team-best 23 runs scored.

The Rebels offense belted out four home runs and is closing in on the total number of home runs from a year ago through only 30 games and is also one successful steal shy of matching the total number of steal attempts by last year’s offense as Ole Miss continues to build under first-year head coach Mike Smith.

Ole Miss hopes to see that growth continue in the contest against the Delta Devilettes and carry into the weekend against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Rebels also look to continue growth in the circle as a potential third arm emerged for the staff over the weekend with freshman Kayla Landwehrmier working a season-long 5.0 innings in relief against the nationally-ranked Bulldogs in game three of the series. Landwehrmier slowed down the scoring for the Bulldogs in a weekend that saw both teams trading body blows in scoring. She limited Mississippi State to three runs in her time in the circle as Ole Miss picked up the 14-8 win to claim the series.

Landwehrmier joins senior Lauren Lindsey and junior Madi Osias in rounding out the pitching staff as the Rebels begin the second half of the season this week.

Wednesday night’s game can be viewed online via the SEC Network+ digital platform with Will Kollmeyer on the call and Monica Lebron providing analysis.
