Oxford Crime Report: Wednesday, March 18
The Oxford police invites all to join its patrol tonight through the virtual ride along, starting at 6 p.m. The ride-along can be followed on Twitter via @OxfordPolice or with the hashtag #RidewithOPD. Read more about the event here.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: three suspicious activities, two alarms, two disturbances, two motorist assists, a simple assault, a welfare concern, a forgery, an ambulance assist, and some harassing phone calls.
Oxford police investigated four wrecks, issued 25 traffic citations and made two arrests on the following charges: a public intoxication; and a running a red light with a suspended driver’s license and a warrant served.
University police responded to the following incidents: two vehicle stops on Hathorn Road, a vandalism at Stockard Hall, a traffic detail at Oxford-University stadium, a vehicle stop on Old Taylor Road, a vandalism and a recovered property at Whirlpool building, a fire alarm at the Village building 130, a fire alarm at Stewart Hall, and a traffic detail on Chucky Mullins Road.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents: a smoke detector malfunction in room 420 at Stewart Hall, a smoke detector activated by burned food in The Village building 130, a smoke detector malfunction at Turner Center, a cancelled call at Baptist Memorial Hospital, and an unauthorized burning of brush on Barlew Lane.
