Ole Miss Takes On South Carolina in SEC Tournament
The Ole Miss Rebels will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in the nightcap of Round 2 of the 2015 SEC Tournament.
Ole Miss (20-11) comes into Nashville as the No. 6 seed and received an automatic bye to the second round.
The Rebels look to put their last outing on the court behind them in a 86-77 loss to Vanderbilt. Coach Andy Kennedy’s squad was led in scoring by senior M.J. Rhett with a career-high 18 points.
Junior C Spire Howell Trophy winner Stefan Moody enters the tourney averaging 18.6 ppg in SEC play, which is tied for the league lead. He also leads the league in steals with 2.0 a game and fourth in 3-pointers made at 2.4 a game.
South Carolina (16-15) defeated Missouri 63-54 in the first round of this year’s tournament. The Gamecocks where led in the game by Sindarius Thronwell with 18 points. His teammate Michael Carrera added 12 of his own to secure the win.
Coach Frank Martin’s squad shoot 46 precent from the field and 37 precent from beyond the arc against the Tigers in the game.
With the tournament being held in the Music City the Rebels have a over all 5-5 record. Tipoff is slated for 8:30 p.m., depending on how long the first night session game goes.
All-time against South CarolIna the Rebels hold a slight lead in the series at 18-15.
