Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, March 3
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: six disturbances, six suspicious activities, five alarms, three welfare concerns, two careless driving, a fire department assist, a noise complaint, a simple assault, a lost property and a 911 hang up call.
Oxford police investigated eight wrecks, issued 24 traffic citations and made three arrests on the following charges: speeding with DUI; possession of drug paraphernalia; and a minor in possession of alcohol.
University police responded to the following incidents: four vehicle stops at University Place, a moving violation per driving without headlights and a suspended driver’s license at University Place, a vehicle stop on Hill Drive, a vehicle stop on Intramural Field Road, a traffic assist at Chucky Mullins Drive, a vehicle stop on Sorority Circle, and a possession of drug paraphernalia at Kincannon Hall.
Oxford Fire department responded to the following calls: a kitchen smoke detector malfunction at the Inn at Ole Miss Alumni House; an assist to a handicapped person going downstairs from fourth floor due to a broken elevator at the Student Union; a heat duct detector malfunction at Starnes Athletic Center; a mechanical room detector malfunction at South End Zone; an outside gas lamp flame blew out but the gas still flowed at 321 North Lamar; and a smoke detector malfunction at the parking garage elevator at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
