Ole Miss Football to Play California in 2017 and 2019
Ole Miss’ football team is going west.
It was announced today that the Rebels will be playing a home-and-home against the California Golden Bears later this decade. Ole Miss will play a game at Berkeley on Sept. 16, 2017, and the Golden Bears will travel to Oxford for a Sept. 21, 2019.
This will be the furthest west the Rebels have traveled to play a football game, surpassing the 2011 visit to Fresno, California. It will also mark the first meeting against a PAC-12 team in football.
Each SEC school is required to play a Power 5 opponent each year starting in the 2016 season. Some schools such as Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina have natural in-state rivals that meet the requirement. The Rebels already have Florida State scheduled for 2016, Georgia Tech in 2022 and 2023 and Wake Forest for 2024 and 2025.

I’ll be interested to see how well each team travels. Bit off topic, but I followed your Diamond Rebel series. Would love it if you’d profile the opposing team before weekend series. Give us stats, what to expect, the right fielders’ girlfriend’s name (just kidding on that last one). Research intensive I’m sure, but when their non conference teams, I don’t know what to expect. Possible?

Yea, I like what Tony suggested. Just some info on their starting lineup for out of conference teams. Really enjoyed your Diamond Rebel series. Thanks for all your work.
