Ole Miss trekked to Gainesville for a Thursday night thriller and pulled out the Rebels’ first season sweep over the Gators since 1990.
The Ole Miss Rebels pick up a huge road victory 62-61 on the back of junior Stefan Moody, securing the win with a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the game. Moody finished the night with 18 points in the O’Connell Center.
The Rebels are riding a six-game winning streak, moving to 17-7 on the season and 8-3 in SEC play.
In the first half, the Rebels and Gators battled in a real see-saw matchup, hopping back and forth on the lead change. The Gators were able to attack the basket in the first 20 minutes of play by beating the Rebel defense.
Florida got out to their biggest lead in the half on a seven-point margin. As time came to a close in the first half, Ole Miss cut the lead to 5. Ole Miss fought in the Swamp
Ole Miss went 6-of-8 from the free-throw line in the half, while Florida shot 4-of-7 from the charity stripe.
Up next, the Rebels return home for Valentine’s Day to host the Arkansas Razorbacks in a highly-anticipated SEC showdown. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
