Lady Rebs Take on Vandy for SEC Showdown in Music City
The Ole Miss lady Rebels look to put a end to their four game losing skid as they travel into Nashville this evening to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in Memorial Gym. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on SECN+.
This past Sunday, Ole Miss dropped a 77-59 decision at home to the No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks, giving the Rebels a 14-8 record overall and a 4-5 mark in SEC play. Against the Gamecocks, Erika Sisk and Shandricka Sessom led Ole Miss with a team-best 12 points each.
Senior Tia Faleru continues to led the Rebels in scoring with 14.6 points per game and pulling down 10.5 boards each time out on the court. The Rebels also look to Gracie Frizzell when a 3-pointer needs to be drained as she knocked down 8 3-pointers from downtown against Alabama.
Vanderbilt comes into the game after a 67-58 loss to the Florida Gators on Sunday, which gave them a 3-6 record in the conference and 12-10 overall. The Commodores are led in scoring by Rebekkah Dahlman with 10 a game and is the lone player to average in double figures.
Vanderbilt is averaging 55.2 points in conference play while opponents are averaging 62.6 points per game.
Coach Matt Insell’s club will be looking for its second SEC road victory of the season when the ball is tipped for the 44th meeting all time between the Rebels and the Commodores. Vanderbilt holds a 28-15 advantage in the all-time series. Ole Miss is looking for their first win over Vandy tonight since the 2010-11 72-67 win. The last time a Rebel team won in Music City over the Commodores dates back to the 1984-85 season.
