Thacker Mountain Radio Returns Next Thursday
The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour will be coming to you LIVE from Off Square Books Thursdays at 6 pm starting February 5, 2015.
The free radio show will feature author Ravi Howard and musicians Terry “Harmonica” Bean and Andrew Bryant. The audience can either attend at Off Square Books or listen to the show live on 92.1 FM or streaming at myrebelradio.com.
Ravi Howard will read from his latest novel, Driving the King, a portrayal a friendship within pre-civil rights America. The novel explores the impact of prejudice and segregation as Howard paid tribute to courage of ordinary lives against the human capacity for hate as well as love. He is the winner of Ernest J. Gaines Award for literary excellence.
The Yalobuswhackers band will have John Paul Keith fronting it but he won’t be alone that night. Terry “Harmonica” Bean, a lifelong resident of Pontotoc, will play the blues. Harmonica may be known for his successful semi-pro pitching career but he has turned his passion to preserving the blues he was raised on in Mississippi. Those who enjoy his show can find his discography, including “Just Messing Around,” at Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art.
Yet another musician will join them: Andrew Bryant. The Oxonian will perform from his sixth solo album, “This is the Life.” His music is steeped in Southern religion, literature and music and “plain hard work” as Bryant makes y’all feel at home.
