Tupelo Furniture Market Returns Next Weekend
The Tupelo Furniture Market, one of the largest furniture trade shows in the United States, will again open one of its giant buildings to the public. Building one will be full of companies selling to both furniture store retailers and consumers.
The shopping experience in building one has been dubbed The Furniture, Gift & Home Accessories Show, and the event has become an integral part of the Tupelo Furniture Market. It opens Thursday, Feb. 5, and runs through Sunday, February 8.
Kevin J. Seddon, president of the Tupelo Furniture Market, said, “This event and building provide the perfect venue for furniture store retailers searching for smaller companies that offer unique furniture, home accessories and other items that might round out their inventory.”
He said this is the building’s sixth iteration of the event and that it has become a big hit, especially since numerous small companies can sell hand-crafted furniture and accessories in a spacious lot.
Hundreds of companies will fill the 185,000 square feet of space and will offer noticeable discounts. Furniture companies—including LQ Wholesale, a regional furniture wholesaler and retailer—will have a giant showroom filled with furniture at below retail prices. Silver Dollar Sales will offer “great prices” on outdoor furniture, refrigerators, ovens and stoves, washers and dryers, lawn mowers and outdoor grills.
Suede, a regional retailer, will also be offering below retail prices on designer purses, shoes and fashion accessories. Other companies—such as Colin’s Frames and Designs, Southern Comfort Treasures and Kindred Spirit Style, Inc. and Whitley Wholesale and Deborah’s LLC and more will offer wholesale and below retail pricing during this one-of-a-kind event.
The shopping experience won’t be ordinary: there will be entertainers, parties and special events scheduled throughout the four-day show.
Regional competitive cheerleading and dance squads will put on a show Saturday. The ladies have been selling raffle tickets for prizes for weeks leading up to The Furniture, Gift & Home Accessories Show. Winners will be named each day of the show and receive prizes such as a blue Topaz tennis bracelet, a 40-inch LED HDTV and a five-piece Hampton Bay patio set. A complete dinnette set will also be given away along with a lawn mower, a state-of-art washer and dryer and a five-burner Brinkmann Grill set. Along with the cheer raffle the shoppers can receive door prizes given away throughout the four-day event.
Parties will ensue during shopping. There will be the fourth “Sparkles & Spirits” party, a Mardi Gras Madness party and a fashion event showcasing local companies’ fashion lines. Entertainers such as Kay Bain, one of Tupelo’s favorite performers, will be there. Wishbone will play both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon there too. The local ICC performance group CenterStage will be there as well as Donny Edwards who is considered one of best Elvis Presley impersonators in the country.
Adam Cleveland, the market’s chief operating officer, said, “Our hope is that the community will come out and take advantage of the great prices on furniture and home accessories and enjoy the festivities. This is our way of thanking Tupelo and north Mississippi for supporting the Tupelo Furniture Market.”
He said they will be giving away gift bags to the first 100 attendees to show up each of the four days.
The Furniture, Gift & Home Accessories Show runs from Thursday, Feb. 5, through Sunday, Feb. 8. The show’s times are: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
