Rebels Tennis Take Part in ITA Kickoff
The Ole Miss men’s tennis team looks for continued success in the Sunshine state this weekend as they take part in the Florida —ITA Kickoff in Gainesville.
Last weekend, in Orlando against UCF the Rebels came away with a 6-1 victory. The team is looking for another signuature win right out of the gate.
This portion of the ITA Kickoff will take place Saturday and Sunday and the Rebels first opponent will be No.13 Florida Saturday morning and then on Sunday Ole Miss will either face South Carolina or Stanford.
A total of 60 teams are competing for a place in the National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago Feb. 13-16. Host Illinois receives an automatic bid, leaving 15 spots available for each regional winner to complete the 16-team field. Since it began in 1973 Ole Miss has preticipated 18 times.
Head coach Toby Hansson talked about how the teams first trip into Florida was a very good way for the team to come together and bond. From a confidence standpoint, the team was able to win a bunch of matches and build on that moving forward.
