Ole Miss Drops Heartbreaker to MSU

Ole Miss fought hard all game defending their home court against No. 18 Mississippi State, as when they face each other, the game is going to do to the wire. Thursday’s game was no exception as it was a nail biter all the way to the end as Mississippi State wins 64-62.

Ole Miss falls 14-6, 4-3 in the SEC as Mississippi State hits a bucket with 3.0 seconds left to break a tied game at 62 points.

With 1:48 left, Ole Miss cut the Bulldogs lead down to 1 point contest at 60-59. Shequlia Joseph knotted the game up at 60 points apiece with a minute left. Mississippi State hit two-free throws to take a 62-60 advantage.

The Rebels took a four point lead into the locker room at the half at 34-30. In the second half, the Bulldogs began the first five minutes out scoring Ole Miss 10-3 to take 40-37 lead after a three pointer from Victoria Vivian.

Senior Tia Faleru found herself in foul trouble against State, though she continued to play and was able to get to the free-throw line. She fouled out with 1:54 left in the game.

State’s largest lead in the game was by an 8-point margin.

Mississippi State began to push their lead out over Ole Miss, but the Rebels dug down each time and found a way to answer a run with stellar defense causing the Bulldogs to turn the ball over.

As a team, Ole Miss shot well from the line hitting 13-18. In the game the Rebels also outrebounded MSU 43-31 in the game.
