Oxford Crime Report for Friday – Monday, January 16 – 19
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 17 suspicious activities, 12 noise complaints, 11 alarms, 11 disturbances, nine improper parking, seven welfare concerns, seven animal complaints, six ambulance assists, five malicious mischief, four shoplifting, four petit larcenies, three careless drivers, two 911 hang up calls, two harassing phone calls, two motorist assists, two civil matters, a lost property, a littering, a harassment, a public intoxication, a code violation, a grand larceny, a counterfeit currency, a fire department assist, and a fraud.
Oxford police investigated 18 wrecks, issued 147 traffic citations and made 34 arrests on the following charges: (6) minor in possession of alcohol, (4) shoplifting, (3) public intoxication, (3) public intoxication with possession of fake ID, (2) possession of drug paraphernalia, (2) careless driving with no car insurance and a DUI, an illegal taxi, a trespassing, a seatbelt violation with a suspended driver’s license and also a warrant served, a speeding with no car insurance but with a DUI, a suspended driver’s license with an expired tag, a careless driving with a DUI, a speeding with running a red light and a DUI, a possession of drug paraphernalia with a DUI, a running of a red light with no driver’s license nor car insurance but with a DUI, a speeding with a suspended driver’s license and a DUI, a suspended driver’s license and no car insurance, a suspended driver’s license with possession of drug paraphernalia and a DUI with a warrant served also, a seatbelt violation with no driver’s license, and a speeding with no car insurance but with a minor in possession of alcohol.
University police report is currently down.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents: a carbon monoxide detector activation due to high levels on the third floor of the Pi Kappa Alpha house, a smoke detector activated by sanding floors at Kinard Hall, a cancelled call at the Marriott, a Nissan car on fire on South Lamar and Veterans Boulevard, two smoke detector activations by cooking at 4308 Mockingbird, a smoke detector malfunction at the University parking garage on Hill Drive, a water flow alarm malfunction at The Hub, an alarm system activated by workers at University Parking Garage, a public service call at #7 Dell Drive, another water flow alarm malfunction at The Hub, an alarm activated by burned popcorn at Kappa Alpha house, and a smoke detector activated by a leaf blower at University Parking Garage.
