Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society Holds Charity Art Auction
The Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society will be hosting their 15th Annual Paws for Art Charity Auction on Jan. 30 at the Oxford Conference Center.
Local artists have donated over 20 pieces depicting Mississippi and the South to be auctioned off at the live auction. In addition to the artwork, between 200-250 retail items such as gift certificates, services and items will be bid on at the silent auction.
The Patron Preview Party will begin at 6:00 p.m. offering a sneak preview of live and ssilent auction items, an open bar, food provided by Volta Taverna, and live music by Nashville, Tennessee pianist, Lucas Leigh. Tickets covbring the preview party and auction party are $45 per person or $80 per couple. For those only wishing to attend the auctions, tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple, with the auctions beginning at 7:00. Paws Premier Reserved Seating is also available at $125 per seat and a table of eight can be purchased for $1,000.
The shelter’s goal for the event is $80,000, with proceeds going toward daily operational costs and completing unfinished portions of the shelter. OLHS is the only open-door shelter for 10 counties, taking in more than 5,000 homeless animals each year.
