OSD Spelling Bee Winners Advance to County Spelling Bee
Oxford fifth-grade through eighth-grade students competed for the top spelling bee spots during the 2015 Oxford School District (OSD) Spelling Bee on January 8 at Oxford Intermediate School.
OSD students advancing to the Lafayette County Spelling Bee are Edmund Doerksen, first place; Fawaz Ahmad, second place; Alexander Mobley, third place; Ellyn Baker, fourth place; and Brooklyn Sanders, fifth place.
The Lafayette County School District will host the Lafayette County Spelling Bee Tuesday, January 20 at 6 p.m. in the Lafayette Middle School Auditorium. The Lafayette County School District and Oxford School District rotate hosting the Lafayette County Spelling Bee each year.
The Lafayette County Spelling Bee champion speller will advance to the Mid-South Spelling Bee, which is sponsored by The Commercial Appeal, on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 9 a.m. at the Al Chymia Shrine Center in Memphis, Tennessee. The champion of the Mid-South Spelling Bee will earn the chance to represent The Commercial Appeal and the Mid-South at the 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., this summer.
