Oxford Crime Report for Monday, Jan. 5
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five suspicious activities, four alarms, two disturbances, two animal complaints, two code violations, two malicious mischief, a welfare concern, a fire department assist, a noise complaint, an improper parking, a civil matter, an 911 call, and an embezzlement.
Oxford police investigated four wrecks, issued 24 traffic citations, and made five arrests on the following charges: (2) public intoxication, a speeding with seatbelt violation and no driver’s license, a careless driving with no insurance or seatbelt but with minor in possession of alcohol and possession of schedule IV narcotics and DUI, and a speeding with three minors in possession of alcohol.
University police responded to the following incidents: an intoxicated person at Fulton Chapel, a speeding at University Place, an accidental hit and run on Sorority Row, a motor vehicle accident with property damage at Cross Street and Meek Hall, a speeding with a suspended driver’s license at University Place, and a motor vehicle accident with a suspended driver’s license and no car tag at Basketball Practice Facility.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a water flow alarm activated by turning the water back on after working on a water leak in another building at J.D. Williams Library, and a reported smell of smoke that was unfounded at 1301 Belk Boulevard.
