German Shepherd Saved from Interstate Median Faring Well after Surgeries

Published

HottyToddy.com contributor Steve Vassallo received this wonderful follow-up from former Ole Miss kicker Hoppy Langley regarding the German Shepherd that he recently rescued on Interstate 40 near Jackson, Tennessee. Good deeds are never unappreciated.

In this case, this beautiful pooch will thank God for Hoppy each and every day of his canine life.

Sheppie Gus

Just a quick update on Sheppie Gus, the German Shepherd recently rescued after he was hit by a motor vehicle on Interstate-40.

Sheppie Gus had his last surgery and came home from the Shelby Animal Hospital on Dec. 23!

Attached is a picture of “Sheppie Gus” riding home from the hospital and headed to his new home in Munford, Tennessee. We are so glad he will live out his days in the loving home of a dedicated Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer who was very instrumental in his rescue!

With all of his surgeries and a recovery period of over three weeks in the hospital, it has been an uphill battle for him, but he has pulled through like a champ! Sheppie Gus will continue to recover and rehabilitate over the next several months.

Sheppie Gus had four injuries that required surgical repair: his hip, a knee ligament, rebuilding a paw with pins in four toes, and a cracked pelvis on the opposite side.

We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to help us with these bills and say God Bless to each and everyone who has helped!

We continue to raise money to cover his medical bills. As you might imagine, the veterinarian bills were high, but if anyone could meet Sheppie Gus, they would understand why we worked so hard to save him and not let him be euthanized.

If anyone in our Rebel family would like to further help us by they can make a donation in one of the following ways:

Mail checks to:
Friends Of Fayette County Animal Shelter
P.O. BOX 443
Somerville, TN 38068
Attn: Carolann Mason-Saving Shep

or

Donate online here.

Because the Friends Of Fayette County Animal Shelter is a 501C3 charity, all donations are tax deductible.

My thanks again to everyone who has helped us give Sheppie Gus what will be a great life!

Hotty Toddy and go Rebels!

— Hoppy Langley
