Ole Miss Leads List for Top Underclassmen in CFB

Thanks to continuous excellent recruiting by Freeze and company, the Ole Miss Rebels lead ESPN.com’s list of Top 25 Underclassmen in College Football plus six honorable mentions.
Just announced by ESPN with Steve Muench and Kevin Weidl of Scouts, Inc. contributing to the selections. Ole Miss is the best in the country with Laremy Tunsil, Laquon Treadwell, Robert Nkemdiche, Evan Engram, Tony Conner and Trae Elston tabbed.
_BC_1833Only seven schools had more than one player named: Ole Miss had six, LSU had four, Alabama, Ohio State and Florida State claimed three each, and Georgia and Texas A&M had 2 respectively. The importance of this cannot be over emphasized as preseason national and conference rankings will be greatly influenced by these names and numbers. One of the biggest surprises was not seeing the Auburn Tigers with even a single entry. Or Mississippi State!
Recruiting will also be influenced somewhat by this as high profile players often like to join others in their respective status. I cannot remember any time in recent Ole Miss football history when this situation existed.
The bottom line is that Rebel Nation can be grateful to Freeze and his team of professionals as they continue to excel in every respect! In this journalist’s view he is worth every dime of his contract and it’s a comforting scenario that our AD Ross Bjork realizes this as much as anyone! Looking ahead to 2015, where we are ranked in the SEC West preseason will be interesting, but as of right now, I would anticipate either first or second.
Here’s my SEC West preseason picks for 2015:

  • Ole Miss
  • Alabama
  • LSU
  • Texas A&M
  • Auburn
  • Arkansas
  • Mississippi State

A victory over the TCU Horned Frogs will almost guarantee the above, but even a loss will be difficult to deter the journey of excellence that this Rebel ship is engaged.
