Rebels Match Well with TCU for Peach Bowl
One of the most anticipated bowl games of the postseason features the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels and No. 6 TCU Horned Frogs New Year’s Eve in Atlanta to kick off the New Year’s Six.
Both teams come in very hot, with TCU holding the top offense in the country lead by junior quarterback Trevone Boykin, who has passed for 3,714 yards on the season with 30 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. Boykin is also a QB that can run with 642 yards picked up with his legs and a additional eight touchdowns.
The wideouts are led by junior Josh Doctson with 59 receptions for 959 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. Doctson averages 16.3 yards a catch. He is followed close behind by Kolby Listenbee with 709 yards on 38 receptions this year with three touchdowns.
That type of offense will pair well against the Rebels’ Landshark defense that has averaged 12.5 points per game this season and has only allowed their opponents to score a nation-low of 18 total touchdowns.
That stat only has helped the Rebels this season by relieving some pressure from quarterback Bo Wallace and the rest of the offense. Wallace comes into his final game in a Rebel uniform with 3,085 yards passing and 22 touchdowns.
The Ole Miss receiving corps is led by senior Vince Sanders with 39 catches for 696 yards and six touchdowns, while teammate Evan Engram is right behind him with 651 yards and two touchdowns.
Ole Miss wants to close this season out just like it opened in Atlanta, and the Horned Frogs will be a great challenge. The Peach Bowl is really setting up to be one of the best New Year’s Six bowls.
