28. MSU Police Chief Arrested for DUI
Mississippi State University Police Chief Georgia Lindley was arrested at 5 p.m. Thursday for driving under the influence. She is currently out on bond and placed on administrative leave.
Mississippi State released the following statement about the incident:
“Mississippi State University Police Chief Georgia Lindley has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an investigation into charges pending against her in the City of Starkville. At this time, the duties of chief of the MSU Police Department have been fully vested in MSU Assistant Chief Kenneth Spencer on an interim basis. There is no higher priority at Mississippi State University than the safety of our students and the rest of the university community.”
Chief Lindley has been on the police force at MSU since July 1979 and was named chief in 2005. She is a Starkville native, graduated from MSU with a degree in social work and a master’s in rehabilitation counseling, and is a licensed social worker. According to her bio on the Mississippi State website, Chief Lindley’s hobbies include reading, antiquing and exercising.
